Interview with Brendan Quinn

Akhil was interviewed by Brendan Quinn to give an update on the 18-year cycle. Akhil explains that we are in the mid-cycle slowdown, where 2019 and 2020 are expected to have a recession. Akhil states that he wouldn’t have necessarily forecast that the COVID-19 pandemic would cause the recession, but there is usually something that comes along that creates some sort of pullback. The bottom line is that this merely sets the economy up for the second half of the cycle. The second half of the cycle is a bit more optimistic and stronger.

Akhil explains the difference between the residential and the commercial real estate market in the second half of the cycle where the residential real estate market is most easily seen than the commercial real estate market. Furthermore, Akhil shared that this recession is not as bad as the previous where there was Global Financial Crisis (GFC). This will be a different scenario.
